My must watch

In my first post I said if I'm not on my bike then I'm watching films or TV. Next to me I have 6 DVDs that I could watch over and over again. I hope you enjoy.

This week has been a bit miserable and windy, so I've only managed to squeeze one ride in between down pours of rain. So I've spent a lot of time on the internet and watching TV.

Series one and two of Sherlock came first. If you haven't heard of Sherlock, where have you been? Simple its amazing! Everyone has heard of the Famous Mr Holmes and his assistant Dr Watson, so I won't bore you with that. What Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat did with Sherlock back in 2010 was bring an old legend into a modern day, but they still use the stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. For me the best episode of series two was the Hounds of Baskerville, I mean it was terrifying, to watch but for me that's what made it so good. I feel like I don't even need to mention Benedict Cumberbatch's performance because if you have watched Sherlock you will know how good it is and if you haven't go and watch it.

(500) days of summer is next on the list. For me its just that one film you can watch and enjoy because its got the complicated but funny love story. I don't normally watch it on my own me and my girlfriend watch it. If you haven't watched this please do, the soundtrack will brighten up your day even before you get into the film.

I don't just watch films though, a couple of months ago I started reading a book called On The Road by Jack Kerouac's. Ok so after I finished the book I did buy the DVD but honestly the book is brilliant, it will change your thinking on life. the film just brings what the book is saying to life. It is about an writer in 1940s America, who goes on an adventure across America with his closest friends. For me this seemed like a beautiful dream to have. Even if you don't fancy this film I'd say try the book out.

The last film on my list is Hot Fuzz, it is that film I watch when I'm really down and don't want to associate with the world. And yes I can pretty much quote the whole script. If you haven't watched this film why not? Its just hilarious. Non stop laughs through out. In my opinion Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are two of the best comedy film writers/actors around. If you do one thing this week watch one of their films. Nick Frost has got a new one out, which I'll talk about next week.

Hope you enjoyed this post.

Thanks

Valentines day

I'm rubbish at gift buying, I always get overly nervous. I've been with my girlfriend for 3 years in March. It still isn't easy to buy her presents. But because we both turned 18 recently we've decided to have a quiet Valentine's day together and just watch a film and drink wine (I know were so civilised) however of course I've brought her small presents. I just never know if I've brought the right thing.. does anyone else have this problem?

Katie got me some chocolate and a love card, which I can keep in my wallet. Its a huge cliche but it really is those small things that make your day..

Hope you had a great night whatever you did.

Miserable weather and exercise

So as I said in my first post I'm really into my cycling. But that is made hard by the weather we've been having here in the UK. So I thought I'd share my 5 top tips for getting out in this weather.

1. Wrap up warm and be seen. Lots of thin, easy to remove layers are the best thing to do. And most importantly been seen make sure you have a bright colour on your top layer.

2. Know your body. If its blowing a 30mph wind outside and you've only just got into cycling. (Or if your experienced). You need to know when to say "actually I'll wait to see if it improves"

3. Turbo train. Lots of people rave about them, personally I find them boring, but will still use them when its really horrible outside. With brands like b'twin you can pick them with decent build quality, at a reasonable price.

4. Don't burn out. Make sure your just doing lots of little rides of the winter. If you've got a charity ride or race planned you really don't want to over do it and injury yourself before it.

5. Drink. Make sure your taking on water when you ride. I'm always forgetting to drink when I'm on the bike. So make sure you have a bottle cage on your bike.

That's been my top tips for getting through the winter months. And it doesn't just apply to cycling, it can apply to running or any other sport.

Thanks
Sam

First post.

So I've had Blogger for ages, When I was younger I used it to rant at the world. But those days are long gone. Now I want to blog so I can put my thoughts about specific things in one place. I will blog about my favorite hobby, which is cycling. I'll write about my tips and what helps me and why I enjoy it. I'll blog about the things I'm watching on TV or what I go to see at the cinema/ theatre.

So this is my first 'grown up' post.

Follow me on twitter and I hope you'll enjoy my day to day blogging.

Thanks Sam.
